At Victoria East Chiropractic Clinic, all of our practitioners can provide care for patients with workplace or motor vehicle collision injuries. Treatment funded through WCB or SGI is subject to the applicable claim and treatment approvals.
We can assess your injuries, develop an appropriate treatment plan and complete the clinical reports required for your claim.
For your first appointment following a new workplace injury or motor vehicle collision, please book an initial appointment—even if you are already a patient at our clinic. This allows enough time to assess the new injury and complete the required paperwork.
Workplace injuries and WCB
If you are injured at work, please tell our reception team when booking and let your practitioner know that your injury is work-related.
Our clinic must report work-related injuries requiring care to the Saskatchewan Workers' Compensation Board and submit the appropriate clinical paperwork. Your practitioner's reports help WCB assess your claim and understand your treatment needs.
You should also:
- Report the injury to your employer promptly.
- Submit your own Worker's Initial Report of Injury to WCB.
- Provide your claim number to our clinic once it is available.
You do not need to see a medical doctor before seeking chiropractic care for a workplace injury.
WCB determines whether a claim is accepted and which treatments are covered. Submitting a report does not automatically mean that your claim has been approved.
Massage therapy under WCB
Massage therapy is not automatically approved under a WCB claim. Having a claim number does not mean that massage therapy has been authorized.
WCB requires a referral and approval before covered massage therapy begins. You must also be receiving active treatment from a chiropractor, physiotherapist or occupational therapist.
In our experience, authorization usually takes approximately two weeks, although processing times may vary. Please contact reception before booking massage therapy under a WCB claim so we can check the authorization status.
WCB currently limits covered massage therapy to five treatments per claim and does not pay for treatment provided before authorization.
Motor vehicle injuries and SGI
If you have been injured in a motor vehicle collision, please tell our reception team when booking so we can arrange the appropriate initial appointment.
Your practitioner will assess your injuries, discuss treatment recommendations and complete the clinical paperwork required by SGI. Follow-up reports may also be needed to document your progress and ongoing treatment needs.
Please report your injuries to SGI and provide our clinic with your injury claim number and your Personal Injury Representative's contact information when available.
A chiropractor can act as your primary treating practitioner for collision-related injuries. Treatment coverage and any required approvals are determined by SGI.
What to bring to your initial appointment
Please bring or have the following information available:
- Your WCB or SGI injury claim number, if one has already been assigned
- The date and details of the workplace incident or collision
- Your WCB representative's or SGI Personal Injury Representative's contact information
- Your employer's details for a workplace injury
- Relevant reports, referral information or treatment authorization documents
If you are still waiting for a claim number, please let reception know when booking.
Booking your appointment
Please select an initial appointment for a new WCB or SGI injury rather than a regular follow-up visit. This applies even if you have previously attended our clinic for another condition.
If you are unsure which appointment to select, please call our reception team. We can help you book the appropriate visit and explain what information to bring.
